The Electric Cooperative Foundation, Inc, was created by the electric cooperatives of Alabama in 1997 in an effort to give back to the communities they serve by providing scholarships for post-secondary and vocational education to accredited institutions for qualifying high school seniors. Applications are available at area high schools, online or at the Cullman Electric Cooperative headquarters. Please note that ECF scholarship applications must be RECEIVED at the Alabama Rural Electric Association office by the deadline.

Cullman Electric Cooperative College Scholarship

Helping today’s students achieve their academic goals is a great investment in our future. Cullman Electric Cooperative’s Scholarship Program seeks out those well-rounded students in our service area who are dedicated to making a difference in the world around them. Applications are available in January at area high schools, online or at the Cullman Electric Cooperative headquarters. Scholarship is open to any high school senior who is a Cullman EC member (or a child or legal ward of a Cullman EC member) who has been in good standing for at least 12 consecutive months at the time of the application deadline — Friday, March 3, 2017. Students may download the PDF file or use the webform on this page to submit their application.

Only one scholarship can be awarded per family per year. Amount of scholarship is $1,000.

A student can receive the Cullman EC scholarship only one time. It is not renewable. The scholarship monies will be awarded prior to the upcoming fall semester or quarter with the student’s valid proof of enrollment as a full-time student at the accredited college, university, or technical school of his/her choice.

Note: The Valedictorian and Salutatorian are not eligible to participate in the cooperative scholarship program.

Scholarship Requirements

  • The scholarship will be awarded based on evaluation of the following criteria you must submit to qualify:
  • 1. Official Transcripts / GPA (35 pts.) Official transcripts only — must be signed by counselor. Please have counselor send these to: Scholarship Committee c/o Cullman Electric Cooperative P.O. Box 1168 Cullman, AL 35056
  • 2. Activities (35 pts.) Include honors/awards, community service and school activities as well as years of involvement and any position held for each.
Files must be less than 2 MB.

3. Essay (15 pts.)
Include honors/awards, community service and school activities as well as years of involvement and any position held for each. In 200 words or less, describe your career goals and reason for choosing field or profession. Must be typed, double spaced, 12 point font.

4. Two Letters of Recommendation (15 pts.)
One letter from a teacher, current or former, and one letter from a person in the community who is not a relative. Letters of recommendation should be sent to:

The application below must be filled out completely and turned in to Cullman EC along with official transcripts, activity list, essay and recommendation letters by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016. Dependants of CEC Board Members and employees are ineligible. The Valedictorian and Salutatorian are also ineligible to participate in the cooperative scholarship program.
