Cullman Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric cooperative serving residential, commercial and industrial members in Cullman, Morgan, Lawrence and Winston counties. Cullman EC was incorporated in 1936, serving 350 members with 30 miles of electrical line. Today, the co-op has more than 42,000 member accounts and maintains more than 3,300 miles of line.

Today, Cullman EC has approximately 100 full-time employees in positions that include linemen, staking technicians, engineering, equipment mechanics, purchasing and stores, accounting, finance, marketing, communications, information technology, metering and collections, theft prevention and investigation, cashiering, member service representatives, human resources, administrative and supervision/management positions. Qualifications, education and experience necessary can vary depending on the specific job requirements.

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT — COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Cullman Electric Cooperative, a progressive electric cooperative located in North Alabama, is seeking highly qualified, talented and motivated applicants for the position of Communications Specialist. The employee in this position will assist in implementing all forms of external and internal communications, with an emphasis on managing the online communication and developing content for social media platforms, cooperative’s website and intranet.  The employee will also maintain a working knowledge of new and emerging online communications platforms and develop appropriate uses for the Cooperative. The successful candidate should have Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations/Journalism/Communications from an accredited four-year college or university or a Bachelor’s degree in a discipline requiring the development of oral and written communication skills.  Two (2) years related experience is preferred. Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. 

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, and Requirements: 

Competencies include skills in oral and written communications to disseminate marketing and corporate information to employees, members and media.  Excellent member service skills are required to respond to member and media needs. Computer skills require a proficiency in the use of personal computers including both Windows based software and Macintosh publishing software, audio-visual equipment, photography and other technology as required.  The ability to handle multiple projects and meet multiple deadlines is essential.  A valid Alabama driver’s license is required.
