Cullman Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric cooperative serving residential, commercial and industrial members in Cullman, Morgan, Lawrence and Winston counties. Cullman EC was incorporated in 1936, serving 350 members with 30 miles of electrical line. Today, the co-op has more than 42,000 member accounts and maintains more than 3,300 miles of line.

Today, Cullman EC has approximately 100 full-time employees in positions that include linemen, staking technicians, engineering, equipment mechanics, purchasing and stores, accounting, finance, marketing, communications, information technology, metering and collections, theft prevention and investigation, cashiering, member service representatives, human resources, administrative and supervision/management positions. Qualifications, education and experience necessary can vary depending on the specific job requirements.

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT — ACCOUNTANT

Cullman Electric Cooperative, a progressive electric cooperative located in North Alabama, is seeking highly qualified, talented and motivated applicants for the position of Accountant.

The individual in this position will be responsible for keeping a complete set of subsidiary records and ledger accounts to record financial transactions reflecting the financial position of the cooperative.  The individual will also prepare reports and financial statements and process bill calculations.

The successful candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university or a Bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting.  A minimum of two (2) years related experience is required.  Knowledge of FERC System of Accounts and utility accounting experience is preferred.

Competencies for this position include the ability to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, work ethically and with integrity, uphold organizational values, complete administrative tasks correctly and timely, and deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required include excellent computer skills including knowledge

of Microsoft Word, Excel, accounting software, database software and Windows based applications. Candidates must demonstrate excellent skills in communication, public relations, and leadership and possess the ability to work as a team member.  A valid Alabama driver’s license is required.
