Internet Services

Broadband over power lines (BPL)
Broadband over power lines (BPL) technology allows users to plug their computer into any electrical outlet in their home and instantly have access to high-speed Internet. By combining the technological principles of radio, wireless networking and modems, developers have created a way to send data over power lines and into homes at speeds equivalent to DSL and cable.

Currently, International Broadband Electric Communications, Inc., (IBEC) is performing a pilot project for Cullman EC members served by the Berlin Substation. Right now, Cullman EC does not have a schedule for when BPL service will be offered to other areas of our service territory. However, once we do have a deployment schedule, members living in those designated areas will receive a letter or postcard in the mail with more details. Also, be sure to check your copy of Alabama Living magazine each month for additional information. Click here to learn more about IBEC and BPL services.
