Cullman EC unveils e-newsletter and blog
03/24/2009   Monthly newsletter delivered to members via e-mail; blog keeps readers up to date on co-op news and industry issues.

Cullman Electric Cooperative is expanding is reach into cyberspace with the introduction of a company blog and a newsletter available to members by e-mail.

The e-newsletter, Energywise, contains news and information about Cullman EC, energy efficiency and savings tips, electrical safety and insight on political and business issues that have an impact on your electric bill. The newsletter is available only through e-mail, and is sent as a pdf file so it can be read on a computer or printed.

"Our members are always interested in finding ways to save on their monthly power bill, and with rising prices many people are paying closer attention to politics and the economy, wanting to know how decisions in those areas impact their monthly bill," said Grady Smith, Cullman EC's president and ECO. "There is lots of helpful and interesting information available, but we didn't have a very good way of sharing that information with our members. The e-mail newsletter helps solve that problem."

To receive your copy of Energywise, send an e-mail to newsletter@cullmanec.com, and ask us to add you to our mailing list. The newsletter is scheduled to be mailed the third week of each month.

The Cullman EC blog Underground Power can be found online at www.cullmanec.blogspot.com. The blog was created last year but was not actively used until earlier this year. Postings so far have included news stories from across the country relating to electricity, pictures from repair work following the Kentucky ice storm, updates on the state legislature and Congress, and more.

"The blog is the fastest way for us to share information with our members," Smith said. "Alabama Living magazine comes out the first of each month, and our e-mail newsletter is sent in the middle of the month. The rest of the time, the blog is the easiest way to share useful information that might not be directly related to Cullman EC but is still interesting and important."
